DC Area Startup HSR.health Receives Second Patent For Solution to Prevent Pregnancy-Related Death, Amongst Most Recent Round of Funding

HSR.health’s GeoMD Platform curates health, social, and environmental data to provide a consistent view of the current and future health situation on a global, national, and regional scale

HSR.health, a leading provide of health-related geospatial data analytics, announced today that they have received the next phase of funding to support continued development of their GeoMD Platform. This GIS (Geographic Information System) solution is provided to health systems, the emergency response community, and global public health leaders to streamline and improve decision-making. This continued funding comes at the onset of their second patent approval, a data-engineering solution for determining the risk of maternal and child health complications to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum.

This funding is received through the Disasters Pilot 2023, managed by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), from the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC), a committee within the U.S. Geological Survey. These funds will be used to continue the evolution and growth of HSR.health’s GeoMD Platform, as well as support research and development of solutions that predict health impacts from wildland fires and droughts. This effort also marks HSR.health’s first engagement with National Resources Canada as both indicators of and risk indices assessing the near- and long-term implications of droughts on health outcomes will be developed. HSR.health’s funding through previous involvement in Disasters Pilots 2018, 2021, and 2022 has enabled the GeoMD Platform to offer a robust solution to a broad number of key healthcare-related concerns.

The GeoMD Platform supports HSR.health’s newly patented Maternal Mortality solution. “Our [HSR.health’s] mission remains to utilize geospatial technology’s fullest potential to solve persistent healthcare challenges.” Says HSR.health CEO, Ajay K Gupta, “The U.S. is currently the most dangerous high-income country in which to bring a child into this world, but we don’t believe it has to be that way. We have developed solutions to combat that, and the news of our latest patent suggests that our approach to identify the specific social and environmental factors that drive health risks in our community – saves lives. Ultimately, this will improve both MCH (Maternal and Child Health) and health equity by identifying and mitigating health risk to the most vulnerable in our community. Our solutions don’t ignore these people, we engineer solutions especially for them.”
