In a recent video interview, Therasa Bell, President and CTO at Kno2, revives the term “meaningful” in health care technology. However, in this case she is talking about establishing meaningful connectivity to drive individual outcomes for patients and healthcare organizations. Sometimes health IT professionals forget that the goal is not just to put data in an EHR or to provide interoperability of data between health IT software. That said, healthcare organizations have begun to ask Kno2 for help. Bell says they are still stressed by inadequate staff, declining reimbursements, and changing care models.
You may remember Bell and Kno2’s CEO, Jon Elwell, talking about the need to move from interoperability to Digital Transformation. It’s great to see a vendor like Kno2 not just talk, but actually put what they are saying into action. This is exemplified by the announcement of a new tech-enabled service from Kno2 called CAREplan which includes a series of practical steps (Connect, Analyze, Reform and Evolve) in a digital transformation journey that leads to real outcomes.
Discussing the reason for releasing Kno2’s CAREplan service, Bell and Travis White, SVP of market strategy and adoption, say that storing data and even achieving interoperability haven’t done enough for most health care organizations. Using data meaningfully is the key to improving their conditions, and White says that CAREplan starts out from the onset as a fee-for-value model. Like a doctor’s care plan for a patient, Kno2’s service address “chronic conditions in the digital world that have persisted far too long.”
Watch this video see Bell and White discuss reforming workflows, factoring in the goals of both patient and provider, using information outside the clinic’s four walls, applying Kno2’s repository of historical data, and achieving “evidence-based innovation.”
