Why Isn’t RPM Exploding Like Telehealth Video Visits? – Healthcare IT Today Podcast Episode 55

For the 55th episode of the Healthcare IT Podcast, we’re going asking the question “Why Isn’t RPM (Remote Patient Monitoring) exploding like telehealth video visits?  Everyone loves to talk about the explosion of telehealth that has occurred in healthcare thanks to COVID-19.  In fact, we’ve highlighted the growth of telehealth ourselves.  The problem is that telehealth is too broad of a term since it includes a wide variety of things including live video telehealth visits, remote patient monitoring (RPM), specialty specific acute care telehealth, direct to consumer telehealth, telequarantine, virtual sitters, and much more.  Plus, even this might be too simplistic, but you get the point.

With these different versions of telehealth in mind, it would be more accurate to say that live video telehealth visits have exploded thanks to COVID.  Is the same true for other areas of telehealth?  How have they been impacted?  In this episode, we dive into RPM (remote patient monitoring) and how RPM has been impacted during COVID.  Here are the main RPM questions we discuss:

  • Where are we at with RPM Adoption?
  • Where are we seeing RPM success?
  • What companies stand out in the RPM space?
  • What does an enterprise RPM approach look like?

And a big thank you to our sponsor for this episode, CariumCarium’s telehealth and remote patient monitoring platform enables providers to deliver relationship-based, digital care across multiple clinical specialties.
