We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 2/5 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by Richard Bagdona (@richardbagdonas) on the topic “Interoperability with COVID“.
Many health tech workers at facilities providing COVID vaccinations are being asked to create HL7 documents with vaccination information which is to be provided to the state health department. With so many different flavors and versions of HL7 out in the market, it is difficult to know what format to create.
In Texas we have an extra added layer of problems because the Texas Department of Health and Human Services is understaffed and most phone calls to them are going unanswered.
It is important to learn how we got here so we don’t make the same mistake for future pandemics. Each state has had 10 months to plan for the roll-out of the vaccines and it appears we could be doing better with reporting.
Join us for this week’s #HITsm chat where we’ll discuss the following questions.
Topics for this week’s #HITsm Chat:
T1: How is your organization reporting each vaccination delivery to your state? #HITsm
T2: What is working well/not working well with regards to your automated reporting to the state for vaccine delivery? #HITsm
T3: What would you like to see improve in how these reporting programs get implemented for future pandemics? #HITsm
T4: What manual steps are you doing today that could be automated? #HITsm
T5: What resources are you relying on to determine which vaccination and patient information to send to your state and how it is to be delivered? #HITsm
Bonus: How could vaccine delivery reporting be done at a federal level? #HITsm
