We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 11/6 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by John Lynn (@techguy) from @hcittoday on the topic “Healthcare Disruption“.
A lot of people love to talk about disrupting healthcare. This makes a lot of sense when you look at all the charts showing the growth in healthcare costs. It’s literally bankrupting our country and individuals. Thus, many people want to see some healthcare disruption.
What’s interesting is that for all the talk of disruption in healthcare, healthcare continues to move at a snail’s pace in so many ways. It’s a hard industry to disrupt. In fact, COVID-19 might have been the biggest disruption to healthcare we’ve seen in a long time. It disrupted many healthcare organizations in massive ways and opened up the world of telehealth in a way that would have been hard to see happening otherwise despite many efforts to do so.
Plus, technology has offered new opportunities to healthcare consumers. They can get access to information in a way that wasn’t possible before. Plus, they’re sharing their experiences with others which will force healthcare to respond in different ways. Not to mention efforts at healthcare price transparency and access to health data.
We also see massive companies like Walmart and Amazon getting into healthcare and Apple and Google on the tech side. Will this lead to a disruption in healthcare? That’s the topic of this week’s #HITsm chat. Should be a lively conversation about where you see disruption in healthcare happening and also what’s holding disruption back.
Join us for this week’s HITsm chat, as we talk about disruption in healthcare.
