Coming into the year, one of the most exciting technologies I saw coming down the pipe was ambient clinical voice technologies and EHR AI Assistants. I thought this would be a major theme at the HIMSS20 Annual conference. Then, everything blew up included HIMSS20 being cancelled. Needless to say, it’s hard to talk about new, exciting technology when the healthcare system is being rocked by a global pandemic. Although, ironically, this type of technology is exactly what we need to help make doctors more efficient, decrease burnout, and reduce the physician documentation burden.
In order to learn more about this technology from one of the leaders in the EHR AI Assistant space, Saykara, I sat down with the following experts and user:
- Graham Hughes, President and Chief Operating Officer at Saykara
- Ryan Plasch, Vice President Business Development and Strategy at Saykara
- Gabe Charbonneau, Family Physician at Providence Montana and Founder of #FightBurnout
If you’re interested in how you can reduce the EHR documentation burden in your healthcare organization, you’ll enjoy this interview below where we explore the Saykara AI Assistant solution:
It still feels early in the development of a true EHR AI assistant and other ambient clinical voice technology, but it’s great to see the technology being used by actual doctors and that they’re seeing an improvement in how they document a patient visit. The best part of these AI solutions is that they continue to get better over time. Although anecdotally, Dr. Charbonneau seems to be benefiting from it already as he shared in the following tweet yesterday:
Though I loathe the pressure to see volume over quality patient care, I am grateful today for my @SaykaraAI assistant that allowed me to see 20 patients — and be completely done with my notes & inbox by 5:30. #FightBurnout
