#HITsm celebrates #NHITWeek – #HITsm Chat Topic

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 9/20 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by Ashley Dauwer (@amariedauwer) on the topic “#HITsm celebrates #NHITWeek”.

Next week, Sept. 23 – 27, 2019, is U.S. National Health IT Week (#NHITWeek) — a weeklong celebration of the power of information and technology to reform healthcare. Participants include administration, providers, vendors, non-profit organizations, and more, and comprises both in-person and virtual activities throughout the month.

#IHeartHIT and I know you do too, or you likely wouldn’t be here.

During my time in health IT, I’ve really come to love the industry and our #HITsm community. The power of information and technology takes many forms, just as our careers do, and I’m enamored by the different paths people have taken to get to where they are today (chatting about trends in healthcare IT on a Friday afternoon on Twitter).

Christina Noel has a background in music, Janae Sharp was a German immersion teacher and baby blanket entrepreneur, David Chou lived and worked in Abu Dhabi, and Stacy Goebel was a Store Manager at Starbuck —who’d’ve thought?

I myself went to college for retail marketing & management. I graduated at the end of the recession in 2011, lived in the smallest state in the country with few “fashion” jobs, and knew I didn’t want to work retail hours. So I took a job working at an EHR vendor in the client service division and before I knew it I found myself reading healthcare IT news in my spare time.

What brought you to health IT? What keeps you going? These stories are personal and authentic and a great way for us to continue to cement our relationships. By getting to know each other better, we can begin to think outside-the-box to find ways to partner and continue forging the way to improving healthcare.
