Awareness and Social Media Fundamentals for Patient Communities – #HITsm Chat Topic

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this week’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 5/17 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This week’s chat will be hosted by Amanda (@LALupusLady) on the topic of “Awareness and Social Media Fundamentals for Patient Communities”.

May is Lupus Awareness Month, Fibromyalgia Awareness Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, Arthritis Awareness Month as well as Lyme Disease Awareness Month.  Many patient communities are using social media to raise awareness, during their condition specific awareness month and throughout the year.  During the #HTsm chat on May 17th we will be discussing how patient communities use and can improve their social media platforms to increase engagement and begin conversations within and beyond the patient communities they serve.

By sharing how patient communities empower and support their constituents, the #HITsm community will be able to listen.   As well as connect, engage and share with the patient communities that can lead to insightful conversations and involving patients as advisors and consultants for organizations and companies that hope to empower and engage the patient communities.

In the May 17th #HITsm chat we will be asking the important questions about how patient communities online need to know the rules, play the rules while creating content that embraces their community and reaches beyond patients and caregivers to impact the healthcare community including providers, scientists, researchers and developers.

Be prepared and start thinking about your answers to the following questions for the #HITsm Twitter chat.
