A lot of attention is paid to digital security in healthcare, but along with digital security, you also need to address physical security. The two go hand in hand, so at the HIMSS 2019 conference, I hosted a meetup with four experts at the Fortinet booth to discuss this challenging topic. We had a wide ranging discussion that looked at both digital and physical security and what healthcare organizations could do today to defend against the attacks.
Along with talking about specific security challenges and solutions, we also talked about the importance of security in healthcare. I was impressed by how these healthcare CIOs made efforts to secure patient data in their organization such an important priority. They didn’t beat around the bush about the trust that patients had put in them and their need to secure that data. It was a sombering message about security in healthcare.
If you are a healthcare leader, you’ll enjoy this healthcare security discussion with Tom Stafford, VP & Chief Information Officer at Halifax Health, Erik Devine, Chief Information Security Officer at Riverside Healthcare, Jason Dugenio, Chief Information Officer at Bridgeway Senior Healthcare, and Troy Roberts, Vice President, Customer Success & Enhanced Technologies at Fortinet Healthcare that’s embedded below or is available on the Healthcare IT Today YouTube channel.
Let us know your thoughts and perspectives on what these healthcare security leaders shared. Do you agree with them? Do you disagree? Are there other resources, strategies, best practices you’d suggest that are making a difference in your organization?
