Welcome to the New Healthcare IT Today!

It’s hard to believe that 13 years ago I published my first healthcare IT blog post. I feel the old adage, “time flies when you’re having fun” applies at this moment. It honestly hasn’t felt like work to have written and published over 13,000 blog posts since that first one 13 years ago. That’s especially true given all the stories I have heard from readers who tell me how they have been impacted by something we wrote or shared.

Over the years, the Healthcare Scene media network has changed and morphed. We’ve implemented hundreds of different ideas in our quest to better serve the healthcare IT community. At our peak, we had 15 separate websites – each tailored to a specific topic or segment of healthcare. However, managing 15 blogs (or even 5 for that matter) is a daunting task, not to mention, how confusing it was for readers.

Needless to say, we had a branding issue. It made for an interesting ice-breaker when I ran into people at conferences. I was never sure if they knew me as EMRandHIPAA or EMRandEHR or HospitalEMRandEHR or HealthcareITToday or Healthcare Scene or simply as @techguy. This was usually the entry to a deeper conversation.

While the various healthcare IT and EHR focused sites have served us well from an SEO perspective for many years, the sprawling nature of the network of sites was difficult for readers and advertisers to understand. Even I’m not immune. I’d often tell people that if I had a chance to do it over again, I’d have created a single site and separated it using categories and tags (which I don’t think were even available when I first started blogging 13 years ago).

Long story short, I must have mentioned this within earshot of my partner here at Healthcare Scene, Colin Hung, because we soon found ourselves starting the effort to consolidate all of our Healthcare IT blogs and websites. We are excited to share the results of this effort with you.

Welcome to the new, consolidated, Healthcare IT Today!

As you can see, the site has a streamlined navigation, multiple ways to find articles and a much more modern look-and-feel. Above all, we really wanted to improve the reader and subscriber experience. However, hopefully, you agree that the new site is a huge step up from our previous sites and will provide a great portal into all the latest Health IT happenings.

We’re very interested in your feedback. Please let us know if you see something out of place or if you think we are missing something that would make your experience better. We’re still in the process of moving a few articles and sites to the new platform, tweaking the new theme, and moving around the digital furniture to see what works best. This is the perfect time to incorporate your feedback.

Thank you in advance for your patience with all the site construction.

Please take a minute to explore the new site. You can now browse all of our content by topic, organization type, or role – just click on that option in the main menu. Plus, check back over the next couple of days as we finish our site construction. We’re going to keep working hard to provide you the practical innovations an perspectives on healthcare IT that help you do all the amazing things you do. .

Finally…and most of all…thanks for being a reader of Healthcare Scene’s websites and blogs. I really can’t believe we are 13 years into this blogging journey together. I’m still just as excited and fascinated by healthcare technology as I was was all those years ago. In some ways, it feels like we’re just getting started.

  • It is hard to believe that much time has gone by. I started Health Train Express in 2004 so we are about on the same time frame. I do use some of your material, also on Digital Health Space and give you an attribution. Feel free to scrape from my two blogs. Have we made any progress?
