Top Companies to Work For in 2016

I recently came across this graphic that shows the top 50 companies to work for according to data from Indeed. Check out the list of 50 companies below:

Interestingly, there were no health IT companies on the list. Well, unless you consider Google and Apple and other IT companies like that health IT companies. I guess GE is on the list, but GE is so much more than healthcare. There were a number of pharma companies and medical device companies on the list.

What’s not clear to me is how this list was created. There’s not a single small company on the list. I know a lot of people who love working for smaller companies and would never consider working for any of the 50 companies on the list. For them, this would be a list of 50 companies not to work for in 2016.

Do you ever look at these various lists of companies to work for when making your career choices? I know a lot of these large companies make considerable effort to make sure they make the list because it helps them in their recruiting efforts. So, they certainly think it makes a difference. I guess I just don’t believe them and their lists.

How do you approach these lists? Are they helpful? Do you trust them? Let us know what you think in the comments.
