RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC (February 7, 2013 ) — The North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, Inc. (NCHICA) and Intel Corporation have announced a new series of Health IT Innovation Awards to recognize outstanding applications of technology and unique approaches to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery within the United States. Three broad categories have been designated for award consideration: Information Technology, Informatics/Analytics, and Consumer Engagement.
“Intel has a long history of industry leadership and the development of game-changing technologies intended to spur innovation and enable realization of a trusted, integrated, people-centered healthcare system for the 21st century and beyond,” said Dan Rivera, area director, government, education and medical region, Intel Corporation. “There is a breadth of innovation taking place and we look forward to highlighting these new and exciting technologies.”

Nominations are due by March 8, 2013. Three finalists in each category will be selected by a panel of NCHICA members and other industry experts serving on the Awards Selection Committee. Nine finalists will be notified on March 29. The finalists will be recognized and the three winners will be announced and honored at a Gala Awards Celebration on May 7, 2013.
