Centricity Patient Online Achieves New Certifications to Enhance Patient Experience

Today, GE Healthcare announced a pair of certifications for its Centricity Patient Online 12.0 solution – a highly configurable, secure patient portal solution designed to synchronize with the complex workflows of large healthcare organizations. Centricity Patient Online’s self-service online bill pay functionality received PA-DSS (Payment Application Data Security Standards) certification, and the portal also became one of the first to be certified as a Modular EHR technology by the Drummond Group.

Product Receives Certification on Data Security, Meaningful Use Eligibility

Furthering its commitment to enhanced patient care, GE Healthcare today announced a pair of certifications for its Centricity* Patient Online 12.0 solution that bolster its capacity to deliver patient-centric service at the point of care.

Centricity Patient Online’s self-service online bill pay functionality received PA-DSS (Payment Application Data Security Standards) certification. Established by the Payment Card Industry Council, this stringent threshold verifies the product meets a rigid set of security standards for storing, processing, or transmitting card holder data. GE Healthcare achieved this certification through the integration of Patient Online 12.0 with the PA-DSS-compliant Centricity Business Credit Card Module.

In addition, GE Healthcare’s Centricity* Patient Online 12.0 recently became one of the first patient portals to be certified as a Modular EHR technology on July 28th , 2011 by Drummond Group Inc, which means the product is considered to be 2011/2012 Meaningful Use compliant. Modular certification indicates that Centricity Patient Online supports some certification criteria associated with meaningful use objectives, helping to enable eligible professionals qualify for federal HIT incentive payments.

Drummond Group made the designation in its capacity as an Office of the National Coordinator – Authorized Temporary Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) in accordance with the applicable Eligible Professional certification criteria adopted by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Drummond Group’s ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that EHRs meet some or all meaningful use criteria for either eligible provider or hospital technology. In turn, healthcare providers using one or more EHR system of certified vendors that satisfy all applicable certification criteria are qualified to receive federal adoption incentives upon demonstrating meaningful use of the certified technology — a key component of the federal government’s push to improve clinical care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by U.S. healthcare providers.
