One of the Midwest’s largest health systems to utilize Merge’s iConnect solution for faster, more robust image interoperability
CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Merge Healthcare (NASDAQ: MRGE), a leading provider of enterprise imaging and interoperability solutions, announced today that Sisters of Mercy Health System in St. Louis, MO, will utilize its iConnect software suite to provide physicians at their 200+ locations access to any image, anywhere, at any time.
Mercy has added iConnect Access and iConnect Share to its existing portfolio of Merge radiology and cardiology imaging solutions. iConnect Access is a true zero-client solution. With its browser-based solution it provides access to medical images from any approved Web-enabled device. And with iConnect Share they can now quickly accept studies from outside entities and offer clinical viewing of these studies before the patient is even transferred to or travels to Mercy.
“We’ve been a client of Merge’s for many years, utilizing both their radiology and cardiology solutions,” said Dennis Shelley, Director of Mercy Technology Services. “With their iConnect solution, we will be able to easily integrate with our existing EPIC EMR, and have solved a workflow issue directly related to sharing images and information with outside rural hospitals and imaging clinics.”
iConnect offers benefits to both the physician and the patient. The hospital will reap cost-savings on the production, storage, and transportation of film/CDs. Patients will benefit as well via the expedited transport of their diagnostic record, which will save time, money, and possibly an unnecessary trip or costly transport from an outside facility. Physicians benefit through easy access to images.
“Merge’s iConnect solution is the foundation of an enterprise-wise imaging strategy,” said Jeff Surges, CEO of Merge Healthcare. “With our image interoperability solution, providers now have access to images regardless of their location – significantly improving workflow for physicians in and out of Mercy.”
