Arkansas REC Selects Medical Informatics Engineering (MIE) as Preferred Electronic Health Records Vendor

Fort Wayne, Ind. – March 14, 2011 – Medical Informatics Engineering (MIE), a Web-based, minimally invasiveTM electronic health record (EHR) provider, was recently named a preferred vendor by HITArkansas, the Regional Extension Center (REC) for Arkansas. As a preferred vendor, WebChart EHR from MIE will help HITArkansas’ participating healthcare provider’s transition from paper to electronic health records and qualify for meaningful use incentives under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

MIE was one of the first EHR vendors to receive ONC-ATCB certification for Meaningful Use Stage One as a Complete EHR (WebChart EHR 5.1) and is also a CCHIT Certified® 2011 Ambulatory EHR (WebChart EHR Version 5.1) with a 5-star usability rating – the highest possible rating.

“We at HITArkansas are pleased to add MIE to our list of preferred vendors,” said Ray Hanley, President and CEO of Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care (AFMC). “MIE offers Arkansas’ providers who work with this vendor a Web-based EHR solution to facilitate faster, more efficient and higher quality health care for patients across the state.”

“Our ultimate goal is to improve healthcare outcomes and we are dedicated to serving Regional Extension Centers and the provider community here in Arkansas and throughout the United States,” said Bruce Lisanti, CEO of Medical Informatics Engineering (MIE). “WebChart EHR from MIE is a unique, minimally invasive™ system perfect for small to mid-sized physician practices because it is an easy to use, affordable, Web-based platform that is accessible from any location, on any device and can be customized to a practice’s specific workflow and integrated with billing systems, labs, pharmacies, registries, HIEs and consumer health platforms like NoMoreClipboard.com, Google Health and Microsoft HealthVault.”

HITArkansas is committed to assisting more than 1,280 physicians in adopting and meaningfully using an EHR by 2012. Practice areas eligible to utilize HITArkansas services include priority primary care physicians — family practice, general practice, internal medicine, obstetric/gynecology and pediatric physicians. Other specialty providers interested in working with HITArkansas are also invited to contact the REC.
