World’s First Adjustable Kiosk for Automated Patient Check-Ins

MEQUON, WI February 14, 2011 — The world’s first adjustable self-service healthcare kiosk will be unveiled at the 2011 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition, February 21-23 in Orlando, Florida. Designed and manufactured by Connected Technology Solutions (CTS), one of the most influential innovators in automated patient check-ins, the new Patient Passport Express™ kiosk features an interactive touch screen pod that moves on a 5-way axis with a 40” vertical range of screen adjustability, providing greater accessibility, convenience, and usability for more patients at a level never seen before in the industry. CTS will exhibit the new kiosk in the Booth 3184 at the annual tradeshow for healthcare IT professionals.

Similar to how self-service machines have transformed banking and airline check-ins, more and more hospitals and medical facilities are installing electronic patient check-in kiosks to help facilitate the check-in process and improve patient experience.  The easy-to-use kiosks save patients time, while increasing efficiency and reducing overhead expenses for the facilities.

While all of the floor, wall, and desktop check-in units engineered by CTS are ADA-compliant (Americans With Disabilities Act) and meet Universal Design standards, its latest model sets a new standard for kiosk functionality. The adjustable pod is as accessible to a person in a wheelchair as it is to a 6′ person standing, and can be used by vision-impaired, hearing-impaired, or blind individuals, as well as those with limited dexterity, club or arthritic hands. The anti-glare screen allows for use near large windows and skylights.

The new adjustable Patient Passport Express is also a giant step forward aesthetically for healthcare kiosk design. The free-standing unit incorporates a sophisticated mix of materials and surfaces, and provides nearly infinite choices of customized textures and colors, allowing the hardware shell to be integrated into a facility’s existing décor and branding.  The software and digital interface are also customized for each facility.
