Southern Ohio Medical Center to Deploy ProVation Medical Software for Cardiology Procedure Documentation and Coding

MINNEAPOLIS – (Feb. 3, 2011) – Wolters Kluwer Health, a leading global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, announced today that Southern Ohio Medical Center will deploy its ProVation® MD software for cardiology procedure documentation and coding in the hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab.

ProVation MD software for procedure documentation and coding compliance replaces dictation/transcription and streamlines the coding and billing process. Unlike cardiovascular information systems (CVIS), which collect patient measurements and administrative data, ProVation MD lets clinicians quickly and completely document medical procedures at the point of care, then applies the appropriate reimbursement codes to drive compliance and revenue recovery. ProVation MD interfaces with cardiovascular nursing, imaging and measurement systems to complete the electronic documentation process and free busy cardiologists and technologists from time-consuming dictation.

“Because we are already utilizing ProVation MD in our gastroenterology and pulmonary labs, we have seen firsthand the benefits that streamlined documentation and coding can bring to specialty service lines, including improved patient care and physician satisfaction,” said Amy Fraulini, Administrative Director of Critical Care and Heart & Vascular Services, Southern Ohio Medical Center. “We look forward to achieving similar results in our cardiac cath lab and to continuing our relationship with ProVation Medical.”

Located in Portsmouth, Ohio, the 222-bed Southern Ohio Medical Center provides emergency and surgical care, as well as a wide range of other healthcare-related services, to the residents of Portsmouth and its surrounding communities. Awards and recognitions include the Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) Star Designation for safety and health, Magnet recognition for nursing excellence, five consecutive years as one of Ohio’s top employers, and recognition as a Fortune 100 Best Places to Work in America.

“We are deeply committed to both product and service excellence, and to developing long-term relationships with the hospitals we serve,” said Arvind Subramanian, President and CEO, Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions. “We are pleased that an organization like Southern Ohio Medical Center, which places such a high emphasis on quality of care, has chosen to streamline its cardiology documentation and coding and to extend its relationship with ProVation Medical by implementing ProVation MD software.”
