Why Another Blog About Healthcare IT?

Like you, I am overrun, overwhelmed, and well . . . just plain OVER all the information overload when it comes to what’s going on in Healthcare IT.  Looking for information on ARRA, HITECH, MU, REC?  It’s everywhere you look.   It’s not that this vital information isn’t extremely important – we all know that what happens in the next decade as a result of all those acronyms is going to completely revolutionize our healthcare system.  It’s very exciting!  But here’s the thing.  If you’re looking for strictly Healthcare IT- related career development resources, you’ve got to bounce all over the Web.  Sure, there are collections of Healthcare IT blogs that include career bloggers (such as the Healthcare Informatics magazine blogs that Tim Tolan and I are thrilled to contribute), but as far as a single blog property that targets ONLY Healthcare IT  talent, workforce and career development topics?  There isn’t one.  UNTIL NOW.

Welcome to Healthcare IT Today, the blogging channel of HealthcareITCentral.com, which you already know as THE place for Healthcare IT job seekers and employers to connect.  Our team of bloggers has been carefully selected, representing the best, brightest, and most fun (big requirement!) career development professionals in the Healthcare IT industry.  Our goal is to educate, promote discussion, provoke thoughts, and do whatever we can to assist you in your journey as a Healthcare IT professional.  And if we happen to make you laugh along the way?  Even better.

I encourage you to comment, suggest, and stay tuned – because you never know what’s going to happen on Healthcare IT Today!

  • Hi Gwen —

Congratulations on this idea and I’ll be stopping by for some new ideas or maybe just a chuckle. I am saddened, though, that I was not chosen to blog for your site since, when you look at your criteria, I don’t do too badly. Kinda:

Best? Well, sure, sort of. I mean, you could do a lot worse. I’ve had a wide variety of national audiences absolutely in stiches, laughing so hard, although I am not entirely sure they were laughing at my jokes or some detail of my chosen garb or mannerism. However, let’s give me a pass on this one.

Brightest? A home run. As a Wisconsinite/Pennsylvaniaite who recently moved to San Diego, CA (because the job prospects in CA are just so much better! lol!!), I can not tell you how many people have walked up to me and said “Your sunburned face is the brightest red I’ve ever seen.” So there you have it; independent confirmation on the brightest!

Fun? We’ll have no doubt on this one either. In fact, I have it on fairly good authority that when I have presented my budgets or P/L statements to the CFO or CEO, they laughed harder and longer than with anyone else! And these are not people easily prone to laughter, mind you.

But as I say, best of luck with your new venture here & I’ll certainly be a regular reader! –ev
