CCHIT Gap Analysis of EHR Meaningful Use

I’m in Austin, TX right now getting ready for a presentation tomorrow on ARRA EHR Stimulus money. I’m very exited about this opportunity and really hope that I can provide some value to those in attendance. If all goes well, then tomorrow I’ll post the slides from the presentation and possibly some thoughts about the experience.

Thanks to this presentation I’ve been kind of busy and unable to post some new content here despite having a lot to write about.

In the meantime, the EHR world has kind of been buzzing about the CCHIT gap analysis between the CCHIT certification criteria and the meaningful use matrix. You can check out the CCHIT annotated meaningful use matrix here. I’ve always had a hard time trying to reconcile the differences between what “certified EHR” and “meaningful use” were meant to achieve. There seemed to be far too much overlap.

The other part of this CCHIT annotated EHR meaningful use matrix is the letter that CCHIT sent to ONC. In the letter CCHIT asks that the “meaningful use measures be either simplified for 2011, or postponed until 2013.” This has been a really common request. It will be interesting to see how ONC and the HIT Policy committee respond to these type of suggestions.

I hope your presentation in Austin goes well. If you have extra time while in here and are interested in a mutually beneficial exchange of information about EHR and interoperability, let me know!

If you’re calendar is already booked, I’d welcome an email from you.

And yes, Texas BBQ is a good thing. I’m a northerner, but this town has converted me into a serious carnivore.

Oh, I’m not trying to sell you anything 🙂

  • HTibbetts,
I just sent you an email. Unfortunately, this time is packed. I hope to come back to Austin at some point or let me know if you’re ever in Las Vegas.

I prefer meatatarian to carnivore;-) I like bread also.
